Thomas M. He also represents injured people in cases where a workplace accident may give rise to a separate third-party personal injury claim in addition to workers’ compensation benefits.

Tom was born and raised on the North Side of Chicago. His passion for representing people in need was shaped by watching family members serve the community through the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Public Schools. From an early age, Tom saw the demands, risks, and challenges that working people and families across Chicago face. Those experiences continue to guide his work as an advocate for Chicagoans who have been injured, harmed, or killed because of someone else’s wrongdoing.

Tom earned his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He then attended the Northern Illinois University College of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude. While in law school, Tom earned scholarships for excellence in the study of civil procedure, evidence, trial advocacy, and ethics, reflecting both his academic achievement and his commitment to courtroom advocacy.

During law school, Tom also served as a judicial extern on the Illinois Appellate Court, gaining valuable insight into appellate practice, legal writing, and how courts evaluate contested issues in litigation. That experience strengthened the careful, detail-oriented approach he brings to every case, from early investigation through settlement negotiations, trial preparation, and trial.

Tom has dedicated his entire legal career to representing injured people. Before joining McHargue & Jones, LLC in 2026, he worked at another respected Chicago personal injury firm, where he gained substantial litigation and trial experience handling serious injury cases throughout Illinois.

Over the course of his career, Tom has helped secure many seven-figure settlement awards for injured clients and has developed significant jury trial experience. He understands how insurance companies evaluate serious injury claims and how to build cases that clearly show liability, damages, medical impact, wage loss, pain and suffering, and the long-term consequences of a serious accident.
