Tom Jacobson

Tom Jacobson is a Chicago personal injury trial lawyer and partner at McHargue & Jones, LLC, where he represents injured people and accident victims in serious negligence cases throughout Chicago, Cook County, DuPage County, Lake County, Will County, Kane County, and communities across Illinois.

Tom has more than 20 years of experience litigating personal injury cases, including truck accident cases, car accident and motor vehicle accident claims, slip and fall and premises liability cases, and crashes involving uninsured and underinsured motorists. He also represents injured workers and accident victims in cases where a job-related injury may involve a separate third-party personal injury claim in addition to workers’ compensation benefits.

Over decades of litigation, Tom has handled cases involving commercial truck crashes, automobile collisions, unsafe property conditions, falls, insurance coverage disputes, products liability claims, civil rights matters, and other serious injury cases. Tom was raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He attended DePaul University, where he completed part of his studies abroad in Germany. He then earned his law degree from the DePaul University College of Law, graduating summa cum laude in 2003.

During law school, Tom volunteered with the American Bar Association’s legal development program in Kosovo, gaining valuable perspective on the rule of law, advocacy, and the legal system’s role in protecting people and communities. That experience helped shape the careful, principled approach he brings to personal injury litigation today.

Tom’s background gives him a strong advantage in serious Illinois injury cases. In addition to representing injured people, he previously worked as a defense lawyer, giving him firsthand insight into how insurance companies, corporations, and defense attorneys evaluate, defend, and attempt to limit personal injury claims.
